| This website will introduce you to our purebred Karelian Bear Dogs, Rebel's Pikku Lummekukka (Kukka), Bjornehuset's Lasse ( ILO), Runningbeardog's Summer Sun, Kesa, Runningbeardog's Brave Heart, Sydan, and our puppies! We are also dedicated to sharing information about the pure- bred KBD. Our Karelians are United Kennel Club registered as well as AKC Foundation Stock. Kukka and Ilo are also CKC registered. Known for their independence, intelligence, keen hunting and tracking ability and loyalty to their owner, the KBD is a Finnish Breed. During the Finnish/Russian war they were used as scouts to scent out Russian troops, and were threatened with extinction as they were killed by snipers. It is said that at one time less than 40 remained, and they are still considered a rare breed today. Our Karelians are members of our family and protectors both at home and on the trail. |
